Studio update: my big drama queen of a dog, Lacey, staged a creative protest and chose violence against my watercolor. 🎨🐕

Apparently being locked out during guests was unacceptable and this painting paid the price.

On the bright side: paper is replaceable, lessons were learned, and Lacey remains loyal… and obviously very opinionated.

Back to the table tomorrow — and will put finished pieces on much higher shelves.

I always think of spring as a reset�—lighter days, new pages, fresh color palettes 🌼 It brings some light to the darker winter days.

This time of year can get so busy — full of noise, plans, and endless to-do lists.
But when I sit down to paint, everything slows down.
The world gets quiet, and it’s just me, color, and rhythm.
There’s something healing in that — in creating for the sake of peace.
Even if no one ever saw the finished piece, those moments would still be worth it.
Because art has a way of bringing me back to center — and sometimes, that’s the best gift the season can offer. ❤️

I did something a little outside my comfort zone… I created an abstract art bundle. 😅

If you know me, you know I lean hard into realism and watercolor. Comfort zones are warm. They’re familiar. They’re predictable. Abstract? …Not so much. Abstract feels like jumping into a pool without checking the temperature first.

But the funny thing is:
Once I let go of “making it look like something,” the paint kind of led the way.
The shapes, the textures, the movement — they all started telling their own little story. And suddenly I had this bundle of pieces that felt emotional, bold, and honestly? A little freeing.

I’m not putting it on my site just yet, but I wanted to share a peek because stepping into something new reminded me why I love creating so much. 🎨💛
It stretched me. It surprised me. And it reminded me that art doesn’t always have to behave.

Successful watercolor workshop yesterday! I had so much fun sharing tips and techniques. Thanks to my hubby for being my assistant!

Stress relief means a simple painting in my sketch book is in order. Lines made with a black thin marker, round out the edges, wet the paints, and choose whatever colors feel right. ❤️
